In my paintings I explore topics like movement, energy, contrast and the mystery of emotions. I am interested in how they interconnect into body language as the true expression of the individual.

To paint is my way of analysing and understanding the world. My themes are always derived from everyday experiences and impressions. My fascination with African masks and tribal art is something I built into this image. The piece is resemblant of a woodblock in the thickness of the lines and the simplicity of black and white portions.
Two main characters are juxtaposed to one another and their names are invented. They are the constantly present female and male principles, two sides of the same coin.
